May 3rd, 2024 - June 8th, 2024

Galería Space - San Patricio, Puerto Rico

The exhibition, Cossette Zeno: A Tiempo (In Time), celebrates the commemoration of 100 years of surrealism with the work of Cossette Zeno, who at 94 years old is one of the few artists who was part of André Breton's circle and still continues working with an impressive artistic production.

CossetteZeno stands out as one of the most important surrealist artists in the Caribbean and

the Americas. Over time, through her creativity and constant discovery, she finds inspiration in nature, humanism and the sea. This exhibition includes a recapitulation of some pieces that were presented at the Caguas Art Museum (2015), others never seen before, and pieces from her recent production. Cossette Zeno: In time, aims to present a brief overview of the artist's development to the present day.

This year, surrealism celebrates 100 years since the writing of the surrealist manifesto by André Breton in Paris, (1924-2024). In the context of this celebration, multiple exhibitions

commemorating the centenary will be opened around the world. Cossette Zeno inserts herself into this narrative by being part of the exhibition, Surrealism and Us, at the Museum of Modern Art in Fort Worth, Texas. The exhibition is one of the international shows that will celebrate the centenary of surrealism until 2026.

Zeno's career became notorious in the emblematic exhibition Surrealism Beyond Borders (2021 and 2022) held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (MET) and the Tate Gallery in London respectively, along with the acquisition of two pieces of her authorship as part of the permanent collection of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP) and recognitions in the local and global press, among others.
